Sometimes you learn something, and the information is so weighty that it immediately changes the way you think.   This recently happened to me when I was passed an article on the impact of video marketing with the following stat:

1.8 Million Words – according to Dr. James McQuivery of Forrester Research, that’s the value of one minute of video. Do you have the time and energy to write 1.8 million words? That’s the equivalent of 3,600 typical web pages. If you write an average of one web page an hour, it would take you 150 days of writing to achieve the impact of one minute of video. When you look at it that way, online video marketing is the single most practical use for your marketing time and energy.

This stat led me down a rabbit hole learning everything I could on video marketing and the more I learned the more wow’d and convinced I was at how underrated and underused this magical tool is. I lost the better part of an afternoon because the more I learned, the more intrigued I was, the more I searched, the more I read.

Business owners sit up and take note. The research is saying that you need to be using video marketing in your online strategy.

Here’s some of the most impacting information I found on why you should be using video in your online strategy:

“Business decision makers LOVE online video because it gives them the most amount of information in the shortest amount of time.” – Robert WeissUse YouTube Video Marketing to Generate Leads, Awareness and Customers

“Video marketing is a powerful means for promoting anything you want online, whether it’s a product, service, opt-in form, website, blog, etc. …Videos are now an expected component of any website.” – AnimosityPierre, Video Marketing Tips to Drive More Traffic

“Making videos and posting them online is fairly inexpensive.  Plus, online videos stay online forever.  If you spend the money to record once, your video could still be getting views a year from now.” – Amy Porterfield, 16 Tips for Successful Online Video Marketing

“Build rapport with viewers by introducing your CEO, a satisfied customer or other individuals within your organization and allowing them to deliver useful information. This puts a friendly face to a name and customers are able to meet who they are doing business with, making you and your company appear more accessible and present.” – Savannah Stewart, Take 5… Video Marketing Tips That Is!

“Many of us have become more comfortable learning visually. Delivering information on a product, service or company through video can help to keep your audience’s attention longer and make what you have to say more easily understood.” – Savannah Stewart, Take 5… Video Marketing Tips That Is!

“Videos can attract a different audience, one that might not want to take the time to read a white paper or an article.” – Brick Marketing, 3 Important Video Marketing Tips

“Click-throughs on a video are often much higher than a standard website listing on the front page of Google. If you see a video in the Google results, it’s a thumbnail of the video, and it stands out a lot more than a regular website listing does, so tends to attract more clicks.” – Matt Carter, Video Marketing Tips

“The core benefit that online marketing holds over the conventional text format method is that videos convey the central idea quickly with less fluff without taking valuable time of potential clients. Web surfers do not waste so much time anymore in articles effort.” – Shera Murano, Engage Online Using Video

More than 80% of senior executives watch more video than they did a year ago and three quarters of executives are watching work-related videos every week! And given the choice, 59% of executives would rather watch a video than read an article. So whether you’re a B2C or B2B company, video is becoming essential in your digital marketing strategy. – Douglas Karr The Rise of Video Marketing

By adding a video marketing strategy in 2015, you can potentially drive consideration, purchase, and loyalty for your brand. But let’s make one clarification. By video marketing, we really mean brand storytelling. Because at the end of the day, those videos are the ones that are truly effective, valued, and (quite frankly) worth watching. – Green Room Video Marketing in 2015: Reasons Why You Need It

I couldn’t say it any better than David Grimes “Video marketing is the most effective way for you to get someone’s attention and engage them for a substantial period of time. Keeping someone engaged is the best and quickest way to gain their trust. Gaining trust is the only way to convert your audience into happy, long-term clients/customers/subscribers.”
